Keishidojo (KSD) Martial Arts purpose is to serve our students, members, and families at the highest level. To fulfill this goal, we constantly improve upon everything we do to better the experience we offer. From curriculum development and life-skills education to staff training and continually updating our facilities, you can be confident we are constantly investing in ways to better serve you.

JD Olsen
JD Olsen is the owner and chief instructor at Keishidojo Martial Arts Unleashed, a martial arts school in Sumter, South Carolina. He has been training in various martial arts for over 40 years and holds a 5th-degree black belt in multiple styles. JD began teaching martial arts in 1993 and opened his own dojo, Keishidojo in 2006. His mission is to provide self-defense and martial arts skills to everyone. In addition to teaching martial arts, JD also offered self-defense-specific classes, bullying prevention classes for kids, and sexual assault prevention courses for women.
JD has continued his own training under many renowned martial artists, including Guro Dan Inosanto, Sifu Francis Fong, Ajarn Siriste Chai, Guro Ron Balicki, Sensei Mike Martelle, Sensei Erik Paulson, Professor Helio Soneca, Professor Eli Knight, Kaicho AJ Weimer, and Professor Carlos Machado. He holds various ranks in various martial arts, including Aikido, All Japan Submission Fighting, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Submission Wrestling, Filipino Kali, Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, Karate, Maphilindo Silat, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Shooto MMA, Pankration, Progressive Kali Systems, Submission Arts Wrestling, STX Kickboxing, and Total Fighting Concepts Self-Defense System.
In addition to his work at Keishidojo, JD is also the programs director for the Martial Arts Unlimited Association and an affiliate member of several other martial arts organizations, including the Martial Arts Research Systems, the Carlos Machado Jiu-Jitsu Association, Grizzly Gym MMA, and Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling Association.
Instructors
Garrett Oakden is a 17-year-old senior at Sumter High School who is currently enrolled in dual-enrollment classes. He plans to attend college in 2023. Garrett has achieved several notable accomplishments, including earning the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2019 and his junior black belt in Shuri-Te Karate. He has also worked for Shidoshi at Keishidojo, earning his full black belt on March 22, 2021 and becoming one of the Senseis at the dojo. In his free time, Garrett enjoys playing video games and working out, with a particular fondness for the game Destiny 2 and chest flys and Romanian deadlifts exercises.
Coach Ariel is an experienced martial arts instructor at Keishidojo Martial Arts Unlimited. With a background in Hapkido and Kyuki-Do, Coach Ariel found a passion for kickboxing and has continued to expand their martial arts training. In addition to their coaching responsibilities, Coach Ariel is also pursuing a degree in Radiology Technology. Despite a busy schedule with school, training, and parenting, Coach Ariel makes time for self-care and hobbies such as playing video games, spending time with their animals, cooking, and painting.

Meet Magdalena, our Operations Manager. With over two decades of experience in management and administration, Magdalena brings a wealth of expertise to her role. In addition to her business skills, Magdalena is multilingual, certified in teaching, and currently pursuing a degree in American Sign Language.
Outside of work, Magdalena is actively involved in her community and church, volunteering her time and energy to make a difference. When she’s not working or volunteering, Magdalena enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She is also an avid reader with an extensive book collection and believes that there’s always something new to learn. In her free time, Magdalena enjoys interior design, gardening, antique collecting, and more.
